The Annunciation is one of the icons that make up the Twelve Feasts (the twelve most important celebrations of Orthodoxy). It is housed in the Holy Monastery of Stavronikita on Mount Athos, it is the work of the famous monk-hagiographer Theophanes, founder of the Cretan School.
