Many saints have the name of Santi Anargiri, because many saints who had studied medicine offered their services to all the poor and needy, also offering with their money and not only to Christians. The two most famous medical saints are the brothers Cosmas and Damiano. Our church celebrates the Roman Cosmas and Damian on July 1st and the Asian Cosmas and Damian on November 1st. Santi Anargiri, the Roman brothers were known throughout Rome for their charity and selfless gift to the poor and the rich. They were murdered by their fellow colleagues who envied them. Asians Cosma and Damiano have lived their lives teaching the word of God and offering their medical advice. They died peacefully.
